Hello! I'm Alex

MSN, RN Diabetes Education and Support Specialist

T1 Diabadass for 37+ years.

After almost a bakers dozen of years as funeral director supporting people at their hardest moments, I went back to school to pursue my passion.

Supporting families like mine living with diabetes.

Here's what almost 4 decades of lived experience with Type One Diabetes looks like:

50+

parents supported across the world.

15+

Parent education seminars delivered

...+

Years at Diabetes Camp with the Wisconsin Lion's Camp

13,500+

Days of finger pokes, low treatments, calculating maths like the lady in the meme.

65,000+

Personal blood sugar checks over 37+ years

(averaging 5 per day)

I love this work because it allows me to walk alongside caregivers who are balancing the same struggles other parents are having along with the complexities and grief of diabetes management.

I'm here to help you feel confident when navigating the diabetes rollercoaster.

How I help:

Alex Salisott, MSN RN Diabetes Education and Support

Diabetes Education and Support

Registered Nurse trained parent support specialist whose focus is helping parents of children with diabetes and other medically complex needs navigate real life.

After more than a baker's dozen of years supporting people navigating grief and loss, I am excited to be walking alongside caregivers and professionals of children and adults with diabetes.

My aim is to help caregivers and professionals feel confident and competent with diabetes management so they are able to step past the diagnosis to help their loved ones live full and robust lives.

Despite being diagnosed with Type One when I was barely three at a time when a glucose check could take more than 20 minutes, my mom made sure that I never felt like I was losing out compared to my peers. I was a two sport athlete, I was even inducted into the hall of fame for one of the sports I played when working on my undergrad, and navigated pregnancy like a champ, despite what Steel Magnolias has my family prepared for.

I help families integrate the information they receive from the medical team into their lives while balancing family life dynamics. I also help you create a list of questions to take back to the medical team to support optimal A1C and co-occurring diagnoses.
